One of the most frustrating parts of music production is getting stuck in a four or eight bar loop.
Over and over it goes….The more you listen to it; the more critical you become – swapping out sounds, melodies or other elements until you get sick of the very tune that you thought was an absolute killer a couple of hours ago (or, it’s changed by all recognition and you’ve lost the original vibe)!
You may have already had a look at my EDM Speed Writing Cheat Sheet (if not, you can grab it here for free). It’s small and simple, but can change the way you work.
I wanted to put together a video that highlights an important part of it – using a “ghost” track to take your loop to a fully-fledged piece of music.
The video’s only 4 minutes long, but it shows you how to take your four bar loop into an arrangement that’s been tried and tested on the dance floors of the world.
Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think in the comments, or if you have any questions 🙂
